We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

What would you Consider Yourself? Simply an Atheist, Daylight Atheist, Or?

So, just to get an idea what do people consider themselves to be. Simply and purely just an Atheist-believing that it's just the earth and them-self? Or are any of you daylight atheists-when your life is going well and whatnot, you think there is no God. And that when things become rather dark, then just--maybe there is a God? I'm just wondering and trying to get a jist of things I suppose around here. For myself at least as of late, I suppose that I am somewhere between believing that there is no God and believing in God when things in my life are simply dark. Although since I have seen the darkness for far too long, I'm slowly beginning to think that there is just no God at all and that it remains as just myself and the earth.

what a darling no-nonsence mom you've had!

A 'sorry' and a 'congratulations' are both in order here.

When I was younger my mom though there were no such things a 'Atheists." My dad told me not to talk about it. He discouraged me from talking about 'it', because he thought it was "Political"  and would get me in trouble.

After my dad died and I was helping my mother I bought Hitchen's book "The God Delusion" My  mom read that book and came to the conclusion that there is no god and came to the same conclusion that I had years before.

It as neat because suddenly shes saw the world in a different way.

She died of pulmonary failure and didn't feel the need to make piece with a god, or gods.

She died on her on terms. The interesting thing about her death is that she didn't want to be drugged up in her terminal illness. She wanted to know the ultimate experience of death and dying.

very much like Great Hitchens who refused to be prayed for when terminally ill, my own atheism is there, come rain or sunshine. Once you see the Whole Absurdity of Faith, be a man and discard it with dignity.

The Gregorian Chant is good too.

There is no need to idolize it though.

Yeah, the soundtrack is nice and dark. =)

@ Sarah.

it is pseudo Celtic in its theme. As you say it has some dark passages in it!

@ Byrneperfection(Sarah R) Maybe you should look into documentaries.

@Neal / @Chris :p I just put the vid in here for the music...I thought the music went well for my mood at the time :). Or rather mood(s) it's quite an addicting piece of music I have to warrant it that much. I'm in love with it....it's wondrous, and at the same time tinged with dark elements in it. I also wanted to thank everyone for replying! And hmm....I think I may be agnostic and yet atheist too. I think I'm a mix....can one be a mix-I have no clue? >.> Is there a "God"? Maybe? Is there not a "God"? Yes I suppose in truth that there is no "God" because "God" cannot possibly exist....not when everything logical is against the fact that there is a "God" or any type of "God" Proof....there is no proof of a "God" but then there is no proof that such a "God" for sure is not real.

Lolz Chris! I was kind of thinking the same thing. =)

To answer the question, I'm an atheist. Whatever life brings it brings, makes no difference. I never waste my time whining to an omni-bullshit dream.
