Iran Rights Official Calls Homosexuality 'Disease'

Mohammad Javad Larijani, secretary-general of the Iranian High Council for Human Rights (file photo)
The secretary-general of the Iranian High Council for Human Rights has been quoted as telling a visiting German lawmaker that homosexuality is a disease.

"The West says that the marriage of homosexuals should be allowed under the human rights charter, however, we think it is sexual immorality and a disease," Iran’s semiofficial Fars news agency quoted Mohammad Javad Larijani as saying, according to dpa.

Fars reported that Larijani made his remarks during a meeting in Tehran with German lawmaker Tom Koenigs, who chairs the human rights committee in Germany’s parliament.

In Iran and under strict Islamic law, homosexuality is punishable by death.

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad drew international criticism in 2007 when he said during a visit to Columbia University in the United States that there were no homosexuals in his country.

Religion is the disease.

It's sad that this fucking idiot terrorist has the gall to call Iran under the Islamic Republic a "country with great human rights" and that the United Nations allows Iran to have a "human rights official" that is rarely held accountable for the human rights atrocities that occurs in Iran for all groups of people from gays (who are killed off if they come out openly as Michel alluded to) and religious minorities such as Bahai's. In addition, anyone "born" Muslim but decides to leave Islam and join another religion or to become atheist (atheists are automatically infidels and deserve the death penalty as it is) but all others who leave Islam as well are deemed "apostates" and would deem the death penalty if they came out in public with their other non-Islamic belief or non-belief.

In reality (based on my time in Iran as I was there for over 8-months last year) I truly believe that there are more atheists in Iran than in the United States.

@A - Good point.
Must be one of those moral diseases.
But it looks like they found a cure: the death penalty.

Well, they need to make up their minds...Is it a disease? Or is it immoral? If it's a disease, it's not the person's fault, is it? These guys forte is NOT logic.
