Listen: In the Beginning.mp3

In The Beginning

In the beginning galaxies were spinning
exactly how cast well maybe a big blast
the truth that is known evolution's cornerstone
is that life adapts and these are the plain facts
there is no missing link not even a blink
science has shown there were no flintstones
no amusement park will squash the spark
since the theory of life is nothing contrived

With the constant threat of fires
and peace that can never be acquired
from the rules of gods with desires
to keep us wrapped in holy barbed wire
see salvation is always near
when you believe creation brought you here
treating this life as a strange vacation
or as if a pit stop to some final destination

In the beginning life was percolating
in the deep oceans without theologians
through the distant years life left the waters
a poison prospered that few found annoying
for some were in need of a pseudo comfort
ignoring the thoughts  that their days are numbered
we're a witness to life drawing their last breath
how can we ignore all animation's death

The beginning
how can we know who we are, without a doubt
the beginning
if we believe in fairy tales, with gods playing parts
the beginning
as children we are told and so it starts
the beginning
sounds so magical in death we hope it never stops

In the beginning if you scorn the wishing
life was a milestone a labor of its own
universe aging the world slowly changing
creating climate for life multiplying
life is related the facts not debated
animals are kin that's not an assumption
science has it right when you die it's the long night
there's nothing to fear enjoy holding what's dear

With the constant threat of fires
and peace that can never be acquired
from the rules of the gods with desires
to keep us wrapped in holy barbed wire
see salvation is always near
when you believe creation brought you here
treating this life as a strange vacation
or as if as a pit stop to some final destination

In the beginning magic wasn't winning
life didn't dispute reality wasn't a fluke
six thousand years old is the lie that is told
those locked in the spell are easily compelled
can't accept the sure bet that life's family
that you will die all that's left is the big lie
that can't happen to me I'm special can't you see
life forever the created tale clever

The beginning
how can we know who we are, without a doubt
the beginning
if we believe in fairy tales, with gods playing parts
the beginning
as children we are told and so it starts
the beginning
sounds so magical in death we hope it never stops

Verses and vocals, Edmond & Neal. Sound by the cranky guy.
