I have this nightmarish thought that those poor people who are dying go to there deaths believing they are going to hell, it breaks my heart.

It makes sense politically. Divert the any potential blame as quick as you can and hope no one really looks into it.

LGBT people are a good target to pick. Call it a sin, then pat over 90% of the population on the back for not doing something they had no real interest in doing in the first place. If you can successfully have victims take the blame for their plight, it also absolves you of having to actually do anything about it. Great for religious leaders who are largely impotent against reality anyway.

The whole thing is pretty f'd up, but I think the saddest part is when even some victims of this mentality buy into it. I hope the families of those afflicted can at least see this for the bullshit it really is. To lose someone to disease is bad enough; to have even their lingering memory tarnished for no reason is unconscionable.

Good point Kris. The worst thing is the church leaders are even saying the Ebola victims are to blame for there own deaths because they are sinners and followers of witchcraft.

Liberia:
Male and female homosexuality illegal and could incur one year imprisonment. No legal protections for sexual orientation.

Ebola deaths: 3900

Sierra Leone:

Male homosexuality is illegal and (at least hypothetically) could incur life imprisonment. No legal protections for sexual orientation.

Ebola deaths: 3400

Canada:

Homosexuality is legal. Same-sex marriage is legal. LGBT people can adopt children. Legal protections in place to prevent discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. LGBT pride events every year which can go on for multiple days.

Ebola deaths: 0

What upsets me most is not that the uneducated church goers falling for this crap, its the Church leaders supposedly educated and wise people who throw this stuff out to the followers in their Churches and the mother churches not contradicting this rubbish.

Gee, their gods are trying so many kinds of payback.

Those gods are kind of dumb; they just can't get it right.

Ok, I'm spoofing...

Those church officials are using their most effective weapon: fear. They know it works.

I couldn't agree with you more Suzanna, do you notice how quiet the mother churches are on this subject, they seem to be more worried about schism than doing the right thing.
