The Hype, The Wonder, The Message! Ceenom, the beginnings of a new delusion

The "Ceen Foundation" has decided to enlighten us with their "Message." Be advised, the message is only to be read by "serious" readers; serious as in seriously fucked up.

I spent some time today reading the "Message" as seriously as I could. Going through the nonsense, especially the parts based in "facts" that are not factual, it becomes very clear…

What would you Consider Yourself? Simply an Atheist, Daylight Atheist, Or?

So, just to get an idea what do people consider themselves to be. Simply and purely just an Atheist-believing that it's just the earth and them-self? Or are any of you daylight atheists-when your life is going well and whatnot, you think there is no God. And that when things become rather dark, then just--maybe there is a God? I'm just wondering and trying to get a jist of things I suppose around here. For myself at least as of late, I suppose that I am somewhere between believing that…

Why Actor Gabriel Byrne Should Not Be Criticized On The Church/My Own Opinions

Gabriel Byrne states the following:

“It was almost a Taliban-esque society,” he said. “That’s how much power they had. Now all the rocks have been lifted and all the maggots have crawled out. The Catholic Church is a tyrannical, evil institution, there’s no doubt about it – anti-woman, anti-homosexual, anti-love, anti-condom, totally elitist.”Now he says,…

Is the morality of Jesus sound?

To answer this question, we would first have to grant that whatever is said about Jesus is true, that is, he was the son of a god, born of a virgin mother, walked among men doing great things for a period of one or three years depending on whose authority you rely on, was arrested, crucified, died and resurrected, you know, the whole schmuck of a story as related by anons in the New Testament.

There are those who tell us, he was a great teacher and that even if it were to be proved he…

How Much Religion Can We Tolerate In our State?

The separation of church and state is vital for both sides. It keeps the government from hording in on people's personal faiths, while at the same time, keeping religious extremist from using the government to push their faith (or lack of faith) on everyone. Its a win-win.

But where do we draw the line?

Their are clear violations of church and state and then there are smaller less…

Jesus of Nazareth

Imagine a conversation between a skeptic and a Jesus believer happening just a few months or maximum a year after the supposed crucifixion of Jesus. How would it go?

Mangasarian presents a very interesting view of the discussion that would, for the thinking theist, encourage him or her to take a brief and reflect on what she believes.

Enjoy

Conversation between a skeptic and the apostles of…

Saudi Arabia before the Islamic awakening.

Saudi Arabian students in 1980 before the Islamic awakening.

Dark strains of political Islamism emerged in the 1970s and 1980s to rival the dominance of the Sahwa*. One of these was “Al-Jamma’a Al-Salafiyya Al-Muhtasiba,” an organization created by theology students in…
