There is a term for a type of biblical interpretation/apologetics I'm trying to remember

If I remember correctly, there's a term for when Christians try to make a point or teach the Bible by using various unrelated statements from around the Bible. Does that sound familiar to anyone?Continue

I won't defend evolution to creationists

The simple reason is because it's not my fight. Acceptance of evolution is the mainstream Christian view. At least for Christianity, a literal view of Genesis is only held by some weird cults, mainly just in the USA. If a Christian wants to debate evolution they can discuss it among themselves. There are more Christians who accept evolution than there are atheists.     But more than that, the creationists have an ulterior motive trying to bait atheists into debating evolution. They don't…See More

The Bible never actually claims Jesus was resurrected

I don't know why this point isn't raised more. So Christianity presents the resurrection of Jesus as a key detail. However, that never actually happens in the Bible. Reread those gospels if you want, but the only one who gets a resurrection in the Bible is Lazarus (unless there are a few more I'm not aware of).TLDR before I get into it, but we can agree resurrection means coming back to life after dying, and by life we mean this life not the afterlife. Jesus dies, then goes to hell (in the…See More

Hi dead jawa, Atheist Nexus exists no more, and all our wonderful, powerful, delightful, old introductions, comments, & photos - gone with the wind. Without any notice or invitation to retrieve treasures. I, for one, decided my pieces will be composed and stored in my computer before I trust them to another group.

The good news, most of us found our way to this site and continue our discussions as if nothing happened.

Welcome to Atheist Universe. By the way, the book Atheist Universe: The Thinking Person's Answer to Christian Fundamentalism by David Mills is a good read.
