Hello
'I had an American friend who threatened to block me if I said "Zed" one more time instead of "Zee". Then as a joke, I said "Zed Zed Top" and her head almost exploded.'
Laughing out loud at "Zed Zed Top"!
The fact is that we all talk funny, given the kaleidoscope of different Englishes in the world -- and even within one nation!
(from The Cambridge Online Survey of World Englishes)
I say "soda", for what it's worth. And yeah, I use logical quoting by choice, with commas and periods outside the quotation marks unless they're being quoted, despite what my teachers said.
"I just really use it to reaffirm my Canadian identity but not really in everyday conversation."
Some of us in your immediate neighbo(u)r to the south have heard the joke that it's even reflected in the spelling of your country's name: "C, eh? N, eh? D, eh?"
Hahahaha.....
One of our friends couldn't talk if she didn't use eh several times in a sentence, I'm sure. It's just not an expression I picked up.
Hahahaha....many people I know use the term, but for some reason, I don't.
Fellow Canadian.
