Christian Leaders who Disown OT Genocide?

According to Richard Dawkins: "Most churchmen these days wisely disown the horrific genocides ordered by the God of the Old Testament. You would search far to find a modern preacher willing to defend…Continue

Defending the indefensible

Recently I started a discussion on a religious forum regarding the atrocities committed by Yahweh in the Old Testament. It had been put to me that human morality comes from  "higher moral authority"…Continue

A Christian dilemma

Posted on March 19, 2012 at 4:56am 3 Comments

I asked a simple question on a religion discussion board recently...

The OT contains dozens of stories where God commands people to behave in immoral ways. Did God really command people to rape, torture, murder and enslave other people?

I think that's a simple yes or no question.

There appear to be three types of response:

1) Of course He didn't. These are stories of stone age and bronze age people using God as an excuse to justify their behaviour.… Continue

A Christian attempts to explain Faith

Posted on November 26, 2011 at 10:10am 11 Comments

This is an exchange I had with a Christian in another forum, who was attempting to explain the meaning of Faith. It seems faith in God is nothing special - it's the same kind of trust that I would put in Amazon delivering on time. Or something like that... Christian view is black italics. My responses in blue italics...

---

What Is Faith? HOW would you define faith? Some equate it with blind belief.…

God moves in mysterious ways

Posted on October 26, 2011 at 12:38am 3 Comments

Someone recently sent me his life story to demonstrate my foolishness for being an atheist. I think I may have spotted a flaw in his argument, but maybe I'm wrong...

I was born on Aug 7, 1944 in Hattiesburg, Ms. I was born 7 years after my mother and father were married and my brother was born 7 years later on dec 14th. My wife was born on apr 7, 1946 and my son…

If theists became atheists overnight

Posted on October 1, 2011 at 4:51pm 3 Comments

The most vocal of theists insist on telling me that people can't be good without God, there's no purpose in life without God, and so on.

The obvious response is an old argument: Without God to police them, the religious would turn into law breakers or manic depressives, whilst atheists would carry on as normal.

It makes me wonder if I'm putting the world at risk by debating with theist fundamentalists. What if I persuaded one of them that there's no God? Would…

feel free to tag me, if you get ensnared with a theist, i much enjoy chewing on this kind of stuff, lol.  I don't always spot all the posts or blogs going by, so if you ever need some backup,

you are not alone!

Looking forward to your input, there's a few of us who hunger for discussion. I noticed many godless out there are bloggers as well. If you are one of them, you are welcome to post whatever blogs you feel like here and link them to your personal blog. All we ask is that you post the blog in its entirety here so members have the option of reading here or jumping to your blog to follow you there.

Sent out a few invites and am inviting bloggers to post if they care to do so. I figure there's nothing wrong with exposure, good for us, good for the bloggers.

With that said, we really just enjoy interacting with other freethinkers. Whether you blog or not is immaterial, just stop by one in awhile and give us hell. =)
