"Probing the Dark Universe" - A Lecture by Dr. Josh Frieman

Davy, I very much like your signature of a true democracy. In fact, we don't have to qualify it. As it is we have appearance of democracy. There is a lot of money involved that tilts the tables to the advantage of those who wield money. There is a lot of ignorance too. And this is a big problem.

That's the problem with today's democracies so many voters are uneducated and are manipulated by cynical populist politicians. Boris and his Tory party have become dab hands at manipulation. I talk to people who complain about the terrible state of the country and say they wouldn't vote Labour, you have to remind them that the Tories have been in power for nigh on thirteen years.

I like your ideal very much, Davy, I want the same, and as always I stumble at the same point; all this needs people who can think for themselves, who are well-educated, sensible and balanced so they won't be taken in by someone's presentation. The Demos we want doesn't exist, the majority consists of people who lost their brains in the daily struggles...

I very much doubt that as a species Humanity will flourish much longer when it its Societies are based on a hierarchical structure as there will always be those among that society will endeavor to grasp the top place in that society.
There will always those that will use another group as the scapegoat of the troubles of their society which in turn creates an instability within it, by creating a us and them mentality within the society.
It is a structure that there will always be the ones that have and those that have not. Which is another aspect that creates tensions within a society.

Till we learn that the only person we can control and have power over is ourselves no one else.
The only way you can control other people is to use fear and intimidation but that does not breed cooperation  and respect it does the opposite uncooperativeness  and hate.

Those that think that we can just up and leave for another world and it will be an Eden, for it won't be; as they will be just be taking the baggage of their society with them.

Just something that I have been thinking upon over the years.

The Signatures of a True Democracy.

When I say “True Democracy” I am not talking about an ideal democracy as ideals are very hard to achieve but they are the beacons that you aim for to check yourself against to ensure that you are heading on the right path to that ideal.

It belongs to a Society that is not based on a hierarchical structure but a Society that on the surface is amorphous whilst at the same time at a deeper level is well structured but horizontally not vertical. This just means the guiding leaders are indistinguishable from the rest of Society.

It is a Society where no member or group of members receives privileges that place them above the rest of the members. As it is a Society based on equality with that equality being based upon the uniqueness of every member.

Where the people, the Demos, decided what privileges that are granted to an office required in helping to run the Society. Not the individual holding the office as they are like every one else in that Society, so are also bounded by the rules of that Society.

It is a Society where the rules and laws that govern the society are not created by a small group of people and flow down to the people but the other way around where the rules and laws are created by the people in their communities which then flow and spread through out the Society.

Those that lead the Society are the guides of that Society they do not command the Society as they do in a hierarchical structured Society. Though they are at times required to command when the situation calls for the Society to be lead and their commands are carried out due to the loyalty of the people to their Society not out of fear for the leader.

Their Guiding Leaders are not elected through promising this and that and blowing their own trumpets but by their service to their community, the way they handle judgements in disputes in their community, for their knowledge of the rules and laws of their people. Actions always speak louder than words. In other words on their merits as a person of integrity and wisdom.

The people are well educated in the ways of thinking for themselves as well as a good basic grounding in all areas of knowledge. So that they can form well founded opinions.

The people also know and realise that they also have to refine their own behaviours as well as refining their Society.

The reporting of news is factual, honest and not sensationalised. In fact that style of reporting is looked down upon and those who do lower themselves to that standard become outcasts in that field of work for the Society.

Equality is shown within the Society; it is the courtesy that members show to other members and the visitors residing with them.

A still on going work.

Stephen, thank goodness! I don't want to live through any more trauma!

Joan  Homo 'clever dick' sapiens can either go for one of two ways. 1. Creat a society where from each according to their ability to each according to their need has come about.

2. We all kill each other and perish as a species.

I hope it would be the first. But one thing is for sure we won't be there to see it.

Comment was by Joan Denoo on February 7, 2021 at 5:59pm

I wonder if Homo sapiens will evolve to the point of being able to see and hear those who sound and look different than themselves?

I wonder if there will be a common language, value systems, work ethic, and religion?

I wonder if humans will care for each other and the planet and work as partners living on a common speck of cosmic dust?

It looks like in 250 million years Scotland will finally be separated from England. And England will be reconnected to Europe.
