Nice Comment
But, Stephen, I bet you don't play "football" anymore. I took up golf at age 13 and still play at age 77. It's a lifelong sport--however, expensive!
I played golf a couple of times and I was just terrible, perhaps that's why I love football(soccer) so much, when I was young I was a good player
Loren, thanks for joining and participating!
I've been watching PGA golf since it returned to television, and indeed, those two putts at the BMW Championship were epic. Maybe that's why that old commercial said, "These guys are GOOD."
My team Chelsea Football Club has been spending a lot of money on new players in the pre-season transfer market on what everyone said was fantastically talented players, I hope they are because we played a pre-season friendly game and we were just awful
I'm not a fan of golf. I always thought that"Golf is a Good walk ruined"
Mark Twain
If anybody is into golf, I hope you watched the conclusion of this past weekend's PGA tournament. Two spectacular putts of 30' and 60' ended the rounds, making it very (and rare) thrilling. It's nice to have sports back on TV.
When the UK football games were barred to fans the premier League promised that games would be broadcast free to air, but to nobody's surprise they lied and went back on their word. Without the roar of the fans you could hear every expletive and racist utterance. Not a good look for the premier League.
Now that sports has (semi) returned to the public eye, it's about time to air my grievances (which makes me feel better!).
Baseball first: When the season started, I was excited (well, more curious than excited) to see my Chicago Cubs on TV. But would you believe it? The game was "blacked out" in my area as I live within 100 miles of Chicago. WHY, oh WHY? Fans are not allowed to go to the games! Talk about ridiculous rules and regulations. The games I can watch attempt to reenact a fan-filled ball park. They have cardboard cutouts in the seats. And they add sound effects of crowd noise which is irritating because the announcers are "drowned out" with the loud canned background noise.
Basketball games have similar issues. Floor "mikes" pick up annoying sneaker squeaks which hurt my ears. And why do they have to use announcers with obvious speech impediments? I mute most games.
The one positive item is that golf tournaments have no fans to be yelling "Go in the hole!" with every shot. Ya gotta take the good with the bad, I suppose.
