I'm happy the Indy Colts made the playoffs. Loren should be happy the Browns also made it! Not to mention his Buckeyes playing for the national championship. The Midwest rocks!

Football, football, and MORE football today and this weekend!!!            Bring them on! (Go Hoosiers!)

I apologize for smiling while reading your "rant". I hope you feel better! My father, back in the late 50's warned me not to get my hopes up for IU football (where both of us went). Except for one good year (excluding this shortened one), back in 1967 when they went to the Rose Bowl (which I attended--them losing to O.J.'s USC, 14-6), it's been nothing but misery. And, I see the rich (OSU) getting richer, the poor (IU) getting poorer, if we judge future success by yesterday's top signees. Oh well, it is what it is.

I know what you mean Loren. The thing about my team Chelsea is I've gotten used to them winning everything. Last year and this is supposed to be a transitional time. I hope it doesn't take long to transition.

Stephen and Randall, one thing you DON'T want to get into with me is the whole issue of the Cleveland Browns, and especially not their history.  To say that I am pissed off about what Art Modell did with them and the subsequent rebuilding and re-rebuilding and re-re-rebuilding of the team every two to three years since 1999 because the NFL couldn't see their way clear to give the Browns organization the kind of benefits that other expansion teams, notably the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers, during their initial reformation, is to understate with criminal intent.

Even before that time and particularly in the 1980s when the Browns were at least competitive, they ran repeatedly into their own brand of kryptonite, being John Elway and the Denver Broncos (The Drive, The Fumble [really a strip], et cetera).  THAT back then was bad enough.  Add the Browns' more recent history to that backdrop and it can be said without fear of contradiction that Sisyphus and his rock has nothing on these guys.

Granted, there is a degree of hope to be had, now that Kevin Stefanski has taken the reins and demonstrated some semblance of competence in structuring this club into respectability.  Even with that, games like that fiasco on Monday do me no favors, and I actually made the mistake of watching most of it (we had guests, so I had little choice).  I'm tired of over 40 years of frustration and mismanagement and ineptitude and too often bald stupidity which has characterized the Cleveland Browns since I moved back here in 1978.  Would I be happy if they somehow managed to go, say, 12 and 4, blow out the Steelers and the Chiefs and finally the Packers in a Super Bowl and at long last earn those coveted championship rings?  NO ... because after that long a drought, one isn't nearly enough.  If teams like the Steelers and the Patriots and the 49ers can dominate the game of football as they did in the past, the Browns are damned well due the same.

Randall if Loren hasn't got over it, I know how he feels my team Chelsea got beat 2-1 by Wolverhampton wanderers a game we should have won with ease.

Loren, I hope you've gotten over the tough Browns loss to Baltimore. At least the Buckeyes have managed to squeak into the conference championship game. I'm rooting for Northwestern however! I'm hoping IU gets invited to a good bowl game.

The way Michigan has been playing this year, any contest with the Buckeyes would have ended in a rout, so I agree.  There has been some talk about giving OSU a pass on the minimum game rule, so they can participate in the CFP, and I hope that happens.

Still, though ... I think the playoffs should be expanded to EIGHT teams, give more colleges a chance and make it more interesting.

Michigan should just forfeit to give OSU that much needed game, although coming up short would give IU the opportunity to play for the title. It's all crazy!

Just woke up from a brief nap, pulled up CNN.com and WHAM!  THE GAME will not be played this year!  Which game?

This one.
