Conservative Atheists

A place for conservatives, perhaps former Republicans, to exchange views on public policy.

I studied Republican Party history from its origin before the American Civil War. Since first voting in 1952 but not since 1980 when theists “kidnapped” the Party, I sometimes registered and voted Republican. I once ran in a Republican primary, hoping to replace my district’s representative in a state legislature. I can confidently say today’s Republicans are not conservatives.

Ding dong the witch is dead.

When will Friedman's  economic policy die?

Northwestern,

Laughing vs Schools,  Stanford, or any of the other collages (I won't call them universities)

The college of Chicago and the economic theory projected there was interesting.  Did you buy into any of his B/S?

President Ronald Regan and Margret Thatcher did.

Ronney  should tell Nancy to just say no to bono.

Sorry for the comment.

In the affluenza case should the parents be tried?

I think in part they are culpable.

Going to say that some of that is why the French Revolution happened.

I'll argue that it's easier to be a sociopath if one has income.

In a teasing saying - what's that child and parents defense

Affluenza.

I heard an author looking at WW!!  say (And I tend to agree with her) that  fascism may be at one end of the spectrum while communism  at the other.

Both she said and I believe it to be correct lead to dictatorship.

Neo-liberal economic theory isn't traditionally a conservative/Republican, or a Liberal/Democratic stance.

Something else is broken.

I'd argue it's campaing funding heading toward fascism.

Conservatives fear chaos and absence of order while liberals fear emptiness, says a study reported at

www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/09/080924124549.htm

Being a progressive conservative, I know chaos and absence of order exist. They are why we have laws and prisons.

Emptiness? I will ask a few liberal folk I know.

Chris, thanx for the public banking info.

Nature is competitive. It makes no exceptions.

Idealists can mitigate Nature’s effects, but disappointed idealists often turn to tyranny. How can people mitigage that?

Comment was by Chris on November 9, 2018 at 4:27am

Tom,

Have you looked at the Public Banking Institute?

Unfortunately a bill in LA for that failed.

Comment was by Tom Sarbeck on November 4, 2018 at 2:27am

Let us acknowledge the importance and political uses of these emotions: anger, guilt and fear.

In decades of fundraising mail, I’ve seen progressives use anger at events in the past and present, liberals use guilt for events in the present, and conservatives use fear of events in the present and future.
