History is usually written by those who did not partake in it. It would be accurate to state that history is a backward looking novel, full of political intrigue, whitewashing of events and cover up of inconvenient truths, or all truth.
Depending on the perspective of the writer For example the Chinese whitewash of Tiannuan square which the west has recorded differently.
Interpretation always shows much of the investigators and their time, but both are very interesting.
I think we need to take history with a grain of salt since we seem to get what others think we should get.

We haven't visited a museum in years.
Stonehenge is endlessly fascinating, & is on documentaries quite often.
I love these short films from the British Museum, they always make me want to learn more about the subject. At one point the curator talks about Stonehenge falling out of use and that's when I always want to know why that happened.
