Doone, this site rings alp kinds of bells for me, the long-range perception of history and how it impacts modern thought. We can't overlook the role religion plays of our ancient past and into the Modern Age. Remembering our histories and understanding the influences of power and learned helplessness offers an opportunity for understanding and even compassion for groups and individuals faced with their realities.

Remembering also gives us an opportunity to create better ways of living together in civil society. Religion, nationalism, economics, education, healthcare, and politics, all influence thought and action.

Let's think of how we can reduce violence and increase critical thinking in the community.

I taped the series and watched them now and then until the VCR died. I love the many connections Michael Wood makes with e.g. oral tradition.

In search of the Trojan was made in 1985, so it might feel in places a little dated, but Michael Woods can really tell a story, he's a wonderful historian. If you get a moment to watch the first episode at least I'm pretty sure you will like it.

Or..... in guns we trust.

Doone that's an interesting article. Though I think for a person living in 2020 who has lost a job, family and all reason to be a live, 536CE don't mean a damn thing to them.

Stephen maybe the US of A should change its motto from in god we trust to we live by war

The actual worst year in history was 536 CE and not 2020
