We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

I have a vegetarian daughter, and some vegetarian pals,

 and have made vegetarian lasagne tons of times

but, i've never ever made VEGAN (cheese free) lasagne...anyone have a recipe for this?  Can it be done and taste right?

actually, i guess i mostly need the brands or types of cheese to swap out...for mozzarella and ricotta...

 

i think a lasagne can be ricotta free and still pass muster (sort of), but you have to, have to,

add in lots and lots and lots of mozzarella.........which of course, should melt nicely and all.

My vegan friends love Daiya cheese to melt it and use it as mozzarella. I haven't tried it yet, but every veggie cheese I've tried made me feel like simply skipping the cheese. Which in this case, would mean not cooking a lasagna, I agree with you.

Even though I see online plenty of vegan lasagna recipes without any cheese, real or fake. Some look really good. I haven't tried them, so I can't recommend them. Let us know what you try and how it comes out!

Daiya cheese is THE BEST! I love love love it! It's the best vegan cheese I've ever had, and I've tried quite a few. I heard about it on a vegan youtube chanel. It melts just like real cheese and it tastes so great!

I guess I'll have to try it!

I would make the mushroom lasagna that Sydni posted in "The Main Dish" discussion. Use Soy milk for the dairy milk and nutritional yeast for the parmesan. 

I made the veggie version and it was awesome considering the lack of cheese. Now that I'm back to vegan I'm thinking of trying it again with the substitutes.

Oooh, I missed that recipe! Sounds great. I will try it. Nutritional yeast is a great sub for cheese.

Lasagna wirhout cheese?  It's impossible I think!))

Cheese is the most basic in lasagna)

I like cheese... Especially in Ricotta salad
