Just love the way Oregon has melded the Indian drums into the western-style music.

This is very pleasing.

The time was probably summer of 1976, likely a Saturday.  I was working in an independent film / video production facility as an audio engineer.  Saturday was a pretty slack day most times, and as there was little work to do, I was in the film-sound studio, mostly PLAYING ... which is to say, experimenting with the mixing board, auditioning archived tapes which I hadn't heard before, and generally finding out what this place was capable of doing.

In walks a friend of mine with a vinyl album under his arm.  "You have GOT to hear this!" he insists.  Okay, I think.  The dust cover comes off the Dual turntable, phono preamp turned on, Channels 7 & 8 on the sound board activated and vectored to two of the four IMF Super Compact monitor speakers.  The 12-inch disc was placed on the rotating platter and tonearm set down on Side One, Cut One ... and I got my first exposure to the rare jazz from an ensemble known as Oregon:
