Awesome!!  This ESA Gaia animation shows the proper motions of 40,000 stars, all located within 326 light years of the Solar System and tracks the movement of stars on the sky 1.6 million years into the future, using data from the Gaia Early Data Release 3 catalogue https://buff.ly/2VwwW6z

There are at least 300 million habitable planets in the Milky Way, new NASA research has shown – hinting that it’s less likely that humanity is alone in the universe.

Research based on scans by NASA’s retired planet-hunting Kepler telescope suggest that about half the stars similar in temperature to our sun could have a rocky planet capable of having liquid water on its sur...

That means the planets could potentially harbour life, scientists believe

Some of these potential planets are also very close to Earth (relatively speaking) with the closest likely to be a mere 20 light years away.

Four are within 30 light years of Earth, the researchers say.

Most physicists believe that dark matter is made of some kind of as-yet undetected elementary particle, but support is growing for another idea. https://quantamagazine.org/black-holes-from-the-big-bang-could-be-the-dark-matter-20200923/

. One of the earliest uses of the English term Milky Way was in Geoffrey Chaucer’s 14th-century poem “The House of Fame.” He likened the galaxy to a celestial roadway.
