Nice Comment
The way Michigan has been playing this year, any contest with the Buckeyes would have ended in a rout, so I agree. There has been some talk about giving OSU a pass on the minimum game rule, so they can participate in the CFP, and I hope that happens.
Still, though ... I think the playoffs should be expanded to EIGHT teams, give more colleges a chance and make it more interesting.
Michigan should just forfeit to give OSU that much needed game, although coming up short would give IU the opportunity to play for the title. It's all crazy!
Just woke up from a brief nap, pulled up CNN.com and WHAM! THE GAME will not be played this year! Which game?
This one.
Good for the Browns (and Chelsea)! Colts really lucked out! And how 'bout my IU Hoosiers (6-1)!
Chelsea beat Leeds United 3-1 now that's proper Football. Sorry Loren just a joke.
Am I seeing things? Did the Browns just beat the Titans, 41-35?!? The Browns are 9-3???
HOOBOY!!!
Just a random comment to Stephen: I'm an American who takes absolutely no offense with your observation, and in fact wholeheartedly agrees that American football is slow and boring.
We should actually reserve the name "football" for the game with the round black-and-white ball, where players actually propel it with their feet most of the time! Even if there were an Academy of the American English Language with prescriptive powers, that would be a decidedly minority opinion on this side of the pond.
(I remember from J. K. Rowling's site "Pottermore" that while witches and wizards played Quidditch in most of the world, the popular game in the U.S. was Quodpot, played with a (harmless) exploding ball. Make of that what you will.)
And speaking of language purity:
"The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." (James Nicoll)
So I see this football player crossing himself before receiving a punt, only to be tackled so forcefully, he had to be helped off the field. Ha! I said to myself. Serves you right.
Watching basketball, I see that the coaches and players are not only wearing masks, but are "socially distanced" while sitting on the sidelines. I like that!
I just have to comment about my alma mater's effort in a losing football battle with Ohio State yesterday. Indiana U. lost a heartbreaker, 42-35. It's been 26 losses in a row to OSU, ranked #3 nationally. One good break and we could have won. Oh well, "wait'll next year".
Despite the rising numbers of Covid 19 cases, sport activities continue. Here in my town, the high school has closed its doors, but the football game will still be played tonight. Crazy. Many college and professional football games have been cancelled for the upcoming weekend due to players and/or staff being tested positive. Colleges allow limited fans, pros prohibit all. It's difficult to make sense out of this mess.
