Survey of Atheist Voters Finds That We’re Wildly Progressive on a V...

"Not only were these 12,000 atheists who responded more progressive than run-of-the-mill liberals; they were off-the-charts more progressive."

It was bracing to see that I'm not alone.

That's quite a number.

Thanks for sharing this!

Those "wildly progressive" views are, to me, self-evident. Why shouldn't someone support respecting women as people (h/t Marie Shear), equal marriage, reproductive freedom (including ending unwanted pregnancies), self-determination at end of life, police reform, and so forth, besides either "God Says So!" or "I don't like it and you shouldn't either!"?

The article points out that the self-selected members of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, an educational and advocacy group working to keep religion and government separate, were not representative of all US atheists, but rather of "the sort of people who would join FFRF." Just about all of them were registered voters.

The summary graphs from FFRF's news release are worth posting here. The article goes into more detail about people undecided about a few of the propositions. (Click each to enlarge.)
