Broccoli, cauliflower, peppers are in now. Hopefully the nights don't ruin them.

Surprisingly, my strawberries have done quite well this year. They're as large as I've ever seen them. I just have to compete and contend with robins and chipmunks to see who get to them first. I've ordered repellant to hopefully rid my yard and garden of the little devils (chipmunks). I bet I have 50 of them on my one little acre.

The garden, overall, is doing nicely--everything up and growing taller.

It's still cool for the time of year, but our roof garden got a good soak from a week of rain. Most plants growing very hard.

Rick has a few things started for the greenhouse, but it's not usually safe here until the end of May, but so far it's not been warm enough at night for anything.

Despite the abnormally chilly temps we've been having, the garden is looking good. Asparagus is popping up, slowly, but surely. Lettuce, spinach, and peas are coming along nicely. No corn yet--the ground needs to be warmer. I'm still not sure if I'll have any fruit (after a hard freeze a couple of weeks ago). Gardening requires patience, for sure.

Well freezing to death doesn't seem as bad as frying to death....but who would want either one.

I'll bet Laura was exhausted. I try to send thanks to all the firefighters every season.

Mrs. B, you are right; Antarctica is fire-free; their hazard is cold, equipment breaking down, getting lost in a blizzard, and making a misjudgment of conditions, may result in death by cold.

During the first fire of this season, Laura and the other volunteers were replaced by inmates from the prison where I once taught life skills with inmates preparing to regain their freedom. She came home utterly exhausted.

Nobody is safe anymore, except maybe Antarctica.

Of all the places around the world, you could imagine wildfires happening, Northern Ireland is the last place you'd think.
