Funny ass man

Comment was by Joan Denoo on January 25, 2021 at 3:15am

My former husband, a career military man, claimed that when an officer reached a certain level, there was a full asterisk after his name, and if he reached a level below that one, there was a half asterisk after his name, or he was half-assed. I can't remember what the rank was, can you?

Catching up to the earlier threads --

Good thing Girl Scout Cookies aren't, as Wednesday Addams wondered, made from real Girl Scouts!

And as an American I'd say that we primarily use "ass" in the human-posterior sense, and that it's emphatically not a euphemism; the same people who get offended at "fuck" would object to "ass" unless it was the four-footed kind.

Spud, you beat me to it! I was about to post a similar limerick! Which reminds me...

"The limerick packs laughs anatomical
Into space that is quite economical.
But the good ones I've seen
So seldom are clean
And the clean ones so seldom are comical."

(Attributed to Roger Gordon at poemhunter.com; my admittedly hasty search didn't turn up another confirmation for this "anonymous" limerick.)

Depending on where you are in Canada seems to dictate which. My ancestry is British, & that applies to a great percentage of our population as well, so many of us lean to those roots rather than the US, although US television has had a lot of influences too. Most of our channels are from there.

There was a young girl from Madras
Who had quite a wonderful ass.
Not rounded and pink,
as you possibly think,
it was grey, had long ears, and ate grass!

Thank you, Davy I too imagined that the Americans changed the word Arse to Ass because they would rather use a euphemism then to swear.

Chris B. As an Atheist, I would be furious if I bought some kinderpindakaas and I found that there were no children in it.lol

Comment was by Davy on January 24, 2021 at 5:24am

I know that both we Aussies and our mates across the pond from us use arse instead of ass. We also have a little cackle when people use the word ass.Personally I have considered it as a euphemism arse. Why beat about the bush say what you mean.
Here is the thesaurus entry at Miriam-Webster for ass

Synonyms of ass

a sturdy and patient domestic mammal that is used especially to carry things

Synonyms for ass

Words Related to ass

Mrs.B

Which grammar do you follow American or British?

Aussies use British Grammar and a bloody lot of British words into which is thrown a lot more from the lingoes of the people that came here plus words from my mob the first people.

Comment was by Chris B on January 24, 2021 at 12:23am

Here we have something called kinderpindakaas - child peanut butter - but not one child in the jar! Word changes within one language happen often, even in a country of 300 Km. across.

Comment was by Mrs.B on January 23, 2021 at 11:45pm

Which still sounds like a mistake in labeling.
