Depending on where you are in Canada seems to dictate which. My ancestry is British, & that applies to a great percentage of our population as well, so many of us lean to those roots rather than the US, although US television has had a lot of influences too. Most of our channels are from there.

I know that both we Aussies and our mates across the pond from us use arse instead of ass. We also have a little cackle when people use the word ass.Personally I have considered it as a euphemism arse. Why beat about the bush say what you mean.

Aussies use British Grammar and a bloody lot of British words into which is thrown a lot more from the lingoes of the people that came here plus words from my mob the first people.

No shock. Try examining Temptations cat treat ingredients. Salmon with no salmon, beef with no beef, etc. As with human food, it helps to actually read the ingredients before taking the plunge.
