This infographic is circling the web.  I know exactly jack and shit about budgets and deficits and free markets and tax breaks and 10 year costs versus yearly costs and wow—my head already hurts.  Economics and I don’t get along, you see.  But you are an intelligent lot, so I’m hoping to learn something from you, or at least, get some insight into what I should be reading in order to learn about this stuff.  I don’t even know if this chart is accurate.

Help me, help you, help me learn some shit, won’t you please?

Dean Esmay explores fears of a "Global Caliphate," or a Muslim dictatorship stretching across the Middle East and beyond:

This is like asking your average American if our own laws should be guided first and foremost by the Bible. I imagine you could get a good half of Americans to agree on that. But can you get even 10% of them to agree on exactly what that means? In anything but the most broad and nebulous terms? I doubt it. ...

To get your global Caliphate you're going to need a Global Islam, and there isn't one. Just endless splinters and factions and endless debate and argument. Yeah yeah, there's one Koran. And multiple interpretative traditions of it, multiple Hadith sets and subsets and views of same, multiple cultures, multiple languages, and multiple fragmented self-interest conflicts, economic and otherwise. Add together the differences in language, culture, ethnicity, and sheer geographic logistics, and the profound differences between Muslims themselves, and you're positing an idea with no practical possibility of happening.

Shia provinces are in the eastern region where oil wells there.

Honestly, without the eastern region, Saudi Arabia would be nothing..

These current events affected Oil prices.

SATURDAY, March 5

The Telegraph reports that Saudi Arabia is "drafting in up to 10,000 security forces to the north eastern Muslim Shia provinces ahead of mass protests planned next week."

Also reported, King Abdullah has supposedly told Bahrain that "if they do not put down their own ongoing Shia revolt, his own forces will." Protesters are said to have plans to "place women on the front ranks to discourage Saudi forces from firing on them." (Source: The Telegraph)

The The Independent reports that force movement clogged the highways into Dammam and other cities.

According to the same report, the opposition is expecting numbers of 20,000 Saudis to gather in Riyadh and the Eastern Shia Provinces next Friday
