In February 2021, a man goes to the White House to see Donald Trump. He is told by the Marine on duty that Trump is no longer president and that he no longer resides there.

Three days in a row the man returns and each time the same Marine tells him Trump is no longer president.

On the fourth day, the Marine finally asks the man why he keeps coming back asking for Trump when he already knows the answer.

The man replies, “I just love hearing you tell me Trump is no longer the president.”

The Marine snaps to attention, salutes and says, “See you tomorrow, sir!”

Hassen Chalghoumi, who is under police protection, says he has been forced to sell his home and send his wife and children to another country for their safety

A moderate imam has been forced into hiding after receiving a deluge of death threats for advocating religious tolerance and denouncing Islamist terrorism in France.

Despite being placed under police protection with six armed officers accompanying him at all times, Hassen Chalghoumi, 48, says he has had to put his house in the Paris suburbs up for sale and to move his wife and five children to a Gulf state.

He never spends more than two nights in the same place while in France for fear of being attacked by extremists, he says.

Le Parisien newspaper said that concern for Mr Chalghoumi’s safety had increased after a Belgian Islamist pledged to pay €150,000 to anyone who killed him.

One of Georgia’s top election officials has made an impassioned plea to Donald Trump to tone down his rhetoric disputing the election results, saying the president is “inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence”.

We need more cartograms like that, especially in connection with politics and elections. Democracies are premised on "one person, one vote" and NOT "one acre (or hectare), one vote."

(And most certainly not "one dollar/euro/ruble, one vote"!)
