Supreme Court has voted to overturn abortion rights, draft opinion shows (politico.com)
The Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by POLITICO.
The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” he writes in the document, labeled as the “Opinion of the Court.” “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

Well ... there you go, people. This is the direct result of two presidents – George W. Bush and Donald J. Trump – NEITHER of which were initially elected by a majority of voters, but essentially installed by the power of the Electoral College, who then put a majority of right-wing justices on the Supreme Court and, utterly ignoring the concept and principle of stare decisis, struck down a near-half-century compact between the United States government and any woman of child-bearing age.
The hell of it is, it won't stop abortions. It'll slow them down, certainly, but the truth is that so long as there is a demand for abortions, SOMEONE will supply that demand. It may be a doctor who knows how to fly under the radar ... or it may be some jerk with a coat hanger. They'll still happen, just as surely as those with money will go to Canada or Mexico and get their procedures while those without means will do whatever they can.
The idiots haven't stopped a damned thing. They've only made matters one hell of a lot WORSE.

Even in English common law precedent is everything and it's the same in America. I can't wait to hear their reasons for overturning Roe. If you can't trust a Supreme Court judge not to lie you are in big trouble.

And in each of those confirmation hearings, all the talk was about precedent and precedent and MORE precedent ... and yet NOW, all of a sudden, Alito comes out and claims that “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start...”? I'm no lawyer, but this reeks of judicial malfeasance, not to mention multiple cases of perjury before the Senate. Add to that Clarence Thomas' statement about the Court being “bullied” by public opinion, which is rich, considering he's among those who perjured themselves, and the credibility of the Supreme Court has taken a hit that it will be a while recovering from.
The question now is, considering all the scrutiny the Court is now under, can this mess be backtracked at all, and even if it can be, will that make a difference? -

One sure-fire way to stop abortions is to have every man over the age of 18 have a vasectomy, which is 100 percent reversible, but of course, if we did that Men everywhere would scream about rights and "my body my choice." All pro-lifers are hypocrites and frauds. Real pro-life begins with trying to help the human beings that are fully functional and living now, not potential anything, fully living breathing heart pumping brain sparking living human beings. People of Color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, the homeless, our vets they keep making for their greed, children in the child welfare system, children they put in cages and stipped from their parents, children they "lost" and let go into child trafficking. Ended the death penalty they love so much. Yeah they really pro-life, my ass they are.

It's the typical contradiction: they want to enforce their biblical laws on the rest of us, but heaven forfend anyone should try to take similar action on THEM. They want the freedom to act, but not the responsibility that goes along with it.
And the "pro-life" label is so much baloney. What they are is Pro-Forced-Birth! -
