At the end of october, 15 writers of either crime, detective or thrillers novels will meet in Quebec city for the first crime festival in Canada... It's named Quebecrime festival and to be held in english; there are at least 2 authors I know.
I won't be attending because all my dreams of being a "criminal" writer have been now been extinguished...
Yes, i HAVE heard of such things, well, i've heard of crime story writers hwo gather and meet up with forensic experts, and cops, and others who may be able to share tips on making their story more authentic and factually accurate.
CSI type shows have actual forensic experts consult to help them know what to write into the show, too.
i'm oddly fascinated with forensic sciences...i think i kind of know a lot about this topic, for a layperson. I often turn on forensic files kind of shows if i can't fall asleep---they are just interesting enough to keep me from thinking about my own worries, and not the kind of show you have to keep your eyes open to watch...(like movies, you have to look at their facial expressions to follow the story)
usually forensic shows do not a lot of loud noises, more a monotone kind of droning voice, to lull you off to sleep, ---well, so long as it was not too horrific of a crime to disturb you. these shows focus more on matching fibers, how to study skeletons to discover who it was, etc etc.
I think i would be a good person to consult to how to get away with a crime. Not that i have any urge to help ppl do crime, i'm just sayin..
