Who can get through a day of the 2016 presidential campaign and not think of this? Here's part of how my mom did it in the late 1930s and the 1940s. I didn't know what she had in mind when she raised us as if there was no such thing as boys' work or…Continue

Although pubs and restaurants are now open they all have to close by 10pm. How closing the pubs an hour early helps the situation is beyond me.

Ian Mason all the theatres in London are closed at the moment, it breaks my heart to see Shaftesbury Avenue and other parts of theatreland look so dark. How long can this go on before theatres close for good?

Short interview with Margaret Atwood on Dutch TV. Gentle intelligent answers. She is quick and wide awake, I like her even better now.

You're still enjoying life to the full, I see Joan.

Elna has a great-grandson, Louis who's 3 and a bundle of energy.

I haven't been able to see my two grandsons as much as I would like. Non-essential travel was actively discouraged for a few months. I did see them earlier this month and James (2½) never stops moving while Douglas (4 months) smiles all the time. They're lovely.

Ian, you adapt quickly to changing situations and I like the examples you and Elna share. I am also happy to learn you can do them with Elna.

Everything is the same with me, tucked away in the forest of N.E. WA. We are opening our garden spots to let the deer browse the corn and other vegetables. Haven't had a frost yet. The greenhouse produced bushels of tomatoes and they taste delicious and continue to ripen. We have enough to supply our household and my two granddaughters' families.

My two great-grandchildren play with me every Tuesday while their mother works; the 1-year-old boy is way too active for me to handle. He joins when he can, while the 6-year-old girl helps me refill the bird feeders, tries on things from my jewelry box, puts on some of my old clothes, and goes through old photos. We also dance and sing and put on my garden hats. I taught her a few songs from:

We have an old flatbed trailer and use it as a stage and put on grand performances with twirls of the most theatrical kind.

I gave her an old digital camera and she gets into everyone's face as she takes photos at inconvenient times and places. She learns fast and takes excellent pictures, paying attention to how she frames a shot.

Williams Lake is still ok, but the bigger centers are beginning the second round.

Comment was by Chris B on September 27, 2020 at 1:42am

Are you also in a high-risk area? We're having the second wave...

Comment was by Mrs.B on September 27, 2020 at 1:18am

It's important to stay safe now.

Comment was by Ian Mason on September 27, 2020 at 1:16am

It's good to be back. Concerts etc. are very restricted at the moment so I'm introducing ladyfriend Elna to classic cinema on DVD. I enjoy seeing the oldies too: African Queen, Fantasia, Maltese Falcon, From Here to Eternity plus musicals like Pal Joey and Seven Brides. We also go to the cinema a lot where there's good distancing.
