Ian that's the sort of rumour that could get us all killed. I've heard people on radio call-ins glibly suggesting that NATO should impose a no-fly zone without even thinking of the consequences if we killed a Russian pilot or they killed one of ours. Too awful to contemplate.

When I was in England, there was a Ukrainian journalist on TV 'stating' that NATO bases in Poland and Hungary have been bombed by the Russians. Obviously there are a lot of rumours about and people believe them.

For the first time ever, watched 'Metropolis.' It seems to be against any idea of popular revolution, prefering a Christian-ish moral to the story; a sort of Dickensian 'we ought to be nice to each other' story. Laing said he hated it after it was finished.I think there are influences in there from Welles's 'The Time Machine' and probably others. It's also possible to see how it influenced future cinema like 'Frankenstein,' Chaplin's 'Modern Times' etc.Great Art Deco and modernist scenery.
