Thanks Mrs.B that's good advice. My AC unit is hardly worth the electricity so I have two quite effective fans blowing air towards me,(I apologise for the awful mental image but sit in my boxer shorts and keep myself cool by using a spray bottle) it's not too bad when the temperature is in the middle 20s but 39c is unbearably.

Comment was by Mrs.B on July 15, 2022 at 12:55am

Drink lots of water, tepid shower/bath, & stay in it for awhile. Do not dry off when done, let yourself air dry. If shower/bath is not convenient for the moment, wet your hair/head. Keep fans going to move the air around your home. Keep curtains/drapes closed or almost closed.

                           Heatwave

Oh dear, Oh dear this heatwave we've had these past weeks has been really uncomfortable but this Monday and Tuesday 18th & 19th are supposed to break all temperature records, on both days it will reach 39%C. or 102%F. And then it drops back to 26%C. The previous record for July in London was 36%C in 2015. I know there will be people complaining that the temperature around the world gets much higher but we Brits aren't used to such temperatures. For those in London and parts of Europe who will suffer from the heat try your best to keep cool and hydrated.

Reality is much more astounding than petty gods. I'm delighted to live in an age and a part of the world where discovery happens.

Yes, it's truly amazing to think that however powerful our telescopes are there are galaxies so far away that we can never ever see them because their light can never reach us. Now honestly doesn't that put religion to shame with its phoney awe and wonder.

Comment was by Ian Mason on July 13, 2022 at 8:15pm

A big 'wow' especially when you realise that the furthest dots are galaxies that probably no longer exist after 13 billion years.

Comment was by Stephen Brodie on July 13, 2022 at 4:06pm

Ian who needs the supernatural when you can take pictures of galaxies that are billions of light-years from Earth. Talk about the transcendence

All over our news last night, & spectacular hardly covers the photos. Stunningly beautiful.
