Who can get through a day of the 2016 presidential campaign and not think of this? Here's part of how my mom did it in the late 1930s and the 1940s. I didn't know what she had in mind when she raised us as if there was no such thing as boys' work or…Continue

Nice Comment
Back in DK after a week in England. Very nice it was too. The family are chugging along very well. The best news is that my brother's prostate cancer is still quiescent. He's been told he'll probably die of something else before it becomes a problem.
Met up with a FB friend and his boyfriend for the first time. He's an ex evangelical turned atheist and has a lively mind. He lives in the Chiltern hills so we were out and about in some lovely countryside.
Yes, Stephen the Charing X road has changed. Henry Pordes is now up-market collectables. 'Any Amount' is still good though and 'Skoob' was close to my hotel so I've come back with about 15 new titles for the Summer.
One odd thing I experienced while staying with my family: the Ramblers Association insist that footpaths are kept open, even when they cross fields. Farmers are therefore forced to poison crops to do this. I would have thought that the sensible thing would be to move footpaths so they went around the edges of the fields, where many farmers now leave a 'wild' strip a few metres wide to attract pollenators. Some photos:
I despair for the fate of my country when time after time Bodger breaks all the rules and even the law and gets away with it.
It was gradual, so didn't really affect me much until after menopause. A few aches here & there, & then my major back operation, where a lot was removed. Of course it has re-developed there again, but so far it's not affecting the sciatic nerve.
Such a long time to creak!
Legacy from mother....she began in her 30's as well.
That seems very early to me, Patricia!
Mine began showing up in my 30's.
Sounds like I'm not the only one suffering from arthritis! A woeful bunch we are.
You're right, Patricia, but I'll creak on happily as far as I can get...
I still feel like a teenager, Stephen, but I'm very happy to have lost the bottomless fears and the vulnerability that go with being young.
And I'm getting creakier every day. I want to know when that happened, in my mind, I'm still a loose-limbed teenager.
