Who can get through a day of the 2016 presidential campaign and not think of this? Here's part of how my mom did it in the late 1930s and the 1940s. I didn't know what she had in mind when she raised us as if there was no such thing as boys' work or…Continue

Nice Comment
Chris, idioms and figures of speech are a lot of fun. Thanks for those.
Indeed, Stephen there are a lot of distractions being thrown up (the BBC, navy used against refugees etc.) to divert attention from all the failures and O'Brien is really on the ball with his comments.
I thank my lucky stars that people like James O'Brien are saying things like this video. Bodger Johnson and his lackeys have begun operation save "Big dog" by lying about the leader of the Labour Party that will divert attention away from the crimes of the Tories.
Believe it or not, Operation save Big Dog is a real thing. What an ego Bodger must have to call himself Big Dog.
Here they say for lucky - fallen with the nose in the butter, and job done - Kees has been finished, but nobody knows who Kees was...
There were some Danish expressions that confused me when I first moved here. Who could have know that 'to have shot the parrot' meant very lucky? Or that 'that's that goat shaved' meant job done?
Thanks Ian, it's a great painting! In Breughel's time they spoke Middle Dutch here, and very few proverbs are still used in the same way. I trained as a teacher of English, so I had a different book...
Ian thanks you. Very helpful, and who doesn't like Brueghel
Chris, did you memorise any of these? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pieter_Brueghel_the_Elder_-...
Idiom material you mean! I learnt a monstrous book of idiom by heart during teacher training.
