Who here has seen Big Trouble in Little China? Or maybe Blade Runner or that ONE episode of Seinfeld? What all the above elements (and a LOT more!) have in common is James Hong, a Chinese-American actor who is still going strong ... at 92!!! As my eyesight grew dimmer, I found it harder to read print material, even after I enlarged it. Two very interesting surgeries later, I had cataracts removed from both eyes and replaced by new lenses that give me clear and sharp vision for relatively near and far vision. I won't have to have new glasses for the rest of my life, and I can clean the lenses by blinking my eyelids.
The process was virtually painless, from beginning through to this day. I asked the surgeon to give my usual request of surgeons for an ophthorectomy and he said, "oh! No! You don't need one!" Obviously, he had heard that joke before.
"Ophthorectomy, to sever the nerve going between the eyeballs and rectum so I wouldn't have such a shitty outlook on life!"

I had a very quiet but happy birthday with a lemon chiffon pie and one candle to blow out! Perhaps Laura didn’t think I had the wind to blow out 86 candles! I know I didn’t have the energy!
