Ian
John Ruskin in the nineteenth cent. made a comment that runs parallel what you stated

The chief of all the curses of this unhappy age is the universal gabble of its fools, and of the flocks that follow them, rendering the quiet voices of the wise of all past time inaudible. – John Ruskin.(1819 – 1900)

Just by omitting the "all past time" for our Climate scientist and our medical doctors know what they are talking about more than the common lay people
so it now reads

The chief of all the curses of this unhappy age is the universal gabble of its fools, and of the flocks that follow them, rendering the quiet voices of the wise inaudible. – John Ruskin.(1819 – 1900)

And then there's the Aaron Rodgers' "expose" (Green Bay star quarterback). He contracted Covid 19. He previously claimed he was "immunized", but never admitted it was for this particular virus. The sport's media is livid in calling him out for evidently misrepresenting the truth.

I've probably said this before but here goes: Trust in authority has declined over the decades because we HAVE been lied to so many times. (WMD anyone?) Now there is a real emergency and credible ways to contain it but some people are prepared to trust rumour more than official statements, giving conspiracy nutters a golden opportunity. Mixed or stupid stances taken by some politicians have made things worse so the real experts in the medical profession have been drowned out.

Pleased to hear you're getting your vaccine, Davy.

I also hope your missus does well. I'm a breast cancer survivor.....over 16 years now.

Comment was by Davy on November 5, 2021 at 1:24am

G'day one and all

Well I go for my jab to-day, getting the Pfizer shot since it is mRNA based and the other one they have available is the CoronaVac which uses the deactivated virus. I had a CT scan no so long ago as the missus was concerned that I may have had TB but it turned I did not have it; but it showed that I had TB scars on my lung and I suspect that was due to the TB shot that I had very many moons ago, so you can see why I am choosing Pfizer over CoronaVac. I need the shot to travel here as they brought no jab no ride policy.
The missus due to cancer treatment gets tested regularly and also due to her treatment she is not getting one at the moment.

Mrs.B Yeah we have the same sort of idiots over here they were out protesting everything related to the virus in Kyiv the other day.
What is getting me I said something on one of the groups I am involved with on Facebook and the reply this Sheila gave back a reply that was  directly out of the RWNJ play-book from America in Auss we don't have FEMA and something else. The major moderate of the group has said that any postings about the virus will summarily be deleted for we are a group for rational discussions. The group is a left leaning group but that does not mean that there are no extreme left wing people in the group. Which by the way are just as bad as the RWNJ.

Ian common sense is no longer common as people have forgotten how to think slightly for themselves
As Cicero a Roman pointed out

Vulgus ex veritate pauca, ex opinione multa, aestimat

The masses judge of few things by the truth, of most things by opinion. – Cicero.

Common sense ain't as common as it should be.

This is from here in BC. I have no clue on the numbers from other provinces, nor the US, but it seems to me this is pretty wide spread.

Comment was by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on November 4, 2021 at 11:29pm

Thanks for the statistics about our shocking willful ignorance about covid-19 and vaccines, Mrs. B.

Yes, we were stunned when we saw those numbers!

Shocked, angered, ashamed, & not bloody happy!
