Chris B you and your friends have found a lovely shaded and sun-speckled wood.

I think it's a pigeon just photographed at an awkward angle but like Mrs.B I'm not very expert on our avian friends

Chris B. Great news that Luca has surgery scheduled. September isn't very far away. The Spring was far too short and Summer is racing along at breakneck speed. The path you walked looks lovely and refreshing.

Can't tell, Ian. I'm not good with most types of bird other than the obvious ones.

Such good news, Chris. And that photo looks so pretty along the path. I can almost smell the greenery.

I thought about that too, Chris but the beak wasn't very hooked. I'm fairly sure it's a female because of the colouration. It obviously thought that the weather was a worse option than sitting close to me. It was because it didn't fly away that made me think of pigeons: racing pigeons are used to people. It didn't have a ring though.

I remember hearing about a British study on the radio (can't find a link to it) that said a substantial number of man-man rapes were commited as part of 'queer-bashing', that is a hate- assault on a Gay man by those supposedly not Gay. The motivation would seem to be fear of their own sexuality turned into hate. There are dark twists and turns in some people's minds.

That beak looks hooked, could it be a young bird of prey?

Comment was by Ian Mason on July 27, 2021 at 9:00am

That's very good news, Chris. I hope that means you can have a more relaxed and enjoyable Summer without having to think about 'when will it be?' And your picture shows a very pleasant place, nature and good friends.

Comment was by Ian Mason on July 27, 2021 at 8:56am

Re. my picture: probably not a pigeon. Does anyone know what it is?
