Flat Earth follower's lawsuit over COVID-19 arrest rejected as 'patently absurd and nonsensical'

AZ isn't even on offer here for those over 65, & J&J isn't here until the end of the month. We got our preferred Pfizer.

Itchy arm is better than the virus.

Ian you are totally right and DKs decision to pause AZs rollout is probably the safest thing to do. The UK is in a slightly different situation the 1st and 2nd jabs have reached a sizeable proportion of the population and have decided to limit AZ to certain age groups rather than halt it.

Two things:

1) My first of two Moderna shots was relatively painless. However, 10 days later, my arm still itches and is tender to the touch. Not looking forward to my second shot.

2) When I went to the first Reason Rally (in D.C.) several years ago, I picked up a rather large sign that I've had hanging on a road facing window ever since. Walkers and slow moving traffic can easily read "I SUPPORT SCIENCE, REASON, AND SECULAR VALUES". I was a little concerned about getting some sort of response, especially from neighbors (Trumpists), but there has never been a word said or deed done (like being egged). I'm not sure if I'm proselytizing or not, but I'm proud to have the sign publicly posted, and happy nothing negative has come of it. Perhaps there's hope.

No, we don't go spreading 'the word' but I think it's important to be visible to some extent. There are many atheists who are still 'in the closet' because of prejudice or even cruel laws. They would like to know that they're not alone.

Comment was by Ian Mason on April 17, 2021 at 3:24am

I read that too, Stephen but further research indicates an unusual antibody reaction. It's almost the same as an also rare reaction to a certain type of blood thinners and is very difficult to treat with about 50% fatalities. DK has paused AZ because infection rates and the R number is so low that an extra two weeks in completing the program won't cause major problems.

Comment was by Loren Miller on April 16, 2021 at 11:06pm

NONE of us are Jehovah's Witlesses.  We are NOT proselytizers; we do NOT need the world to agree with us, though that would NOT be bad.  More than anything else, we want the world to RECOGNIZE us.

The sad part is that those who are too dedicated to their delusion will refuse to, because it pisses in the wind of their belief.

Chris B, i so hope your hearing aids work for you! The good news, you have a volume button; that seems to be a given. I don't understand how the volume can be preset by someone else.

Comment was by Grinning Cat on April 16, 2021 at 9:09pm

"But I don't want to be a door-to-door salesman. I'm not a Jehovah's Witness, you know."

Reminded me of this Bizarro cartoon:

Man at his door, looking puzzled at the pamphlet two young men, in short-sleeved shirts and ties, had just given him. “This pamphlet is blank.” “We’re atheists.”

Comment was by Grinning Cat on April 16, 2021 at 8:59pm

Thanks, Stephen, for the video; I'm starting to watch it now. Has it indeed become more difficult for street musicians and other entertainers, as well as pedlars? (Yes, Americans can sometimes learn to spell, wavy red underline be damned. :-)

I had my "one and done" Johnson & Johnson vaccine almost a week ago, thanks to a local pharmacy having a canceled appointment. (Lucky to get the one-dose vaccine, and lucky to get it before the pause!) One night of fever, a few days of fatigue and the arm being sore, nothing major.

Chris, I'm glad you're doing better with the hearing aids!
