Who can get through a day of the 2016 presidential campaign and not think of this? Here's part of how my mom did it in the late 1930s and the 1940s. I didn't know what she had in mind when she raised us as if there was no such thing as boys' work or…Continue

Speaking of an "ordinary" life not being a failure, I'm actually glad I'm not among the ranks of the rich and famous. Rich I'll take, but it's a good thing that the media couldn't care less what I ate for breakfast or who I slept with last night.
(OK, I wouldn't mind being known and respected in some niche, as long as I got to stay comfortably anonymous to the public at large.)
Yup.
Stephen Brodie, that "De Afsluitdijk:" video blows me away. Obviously, I am not an engineer because I can see all the reasons such an endeavor is impossible. Winter storm surges, shifting sands, rocks, and foundations would just wash away the most thoroughly researched project. Like the "Man-Made Islands In Dubai," I see them melting into the ocean within a generation.
I bet you are glad I am not an engineer!
O thanks, Stephen! The candles are hard to blow out, but I'll make a wish anyway. I never heard of the AU birthday app, but I enjoyed turning 67 very much.
You're also up early I see.
Ian, I see so many people labelled in a negative way by jealous other people! I still refuse all labels except my first name.
Happy birthday Chris. I tried to use the AU birthday app but it doesn't seem to be working.
Describes us pretty well, & we're just fine with it. ''Failure'' doesn't even enter the equation.
Somehow Ian, I don't find that surprising.
You'd think that wouldn't you but Jack my friend who lives on the first doesn't hear them, what with the walls and buildings in the way.
