Larger places like Vancouver do that.

Our local Westminster Council will put you in touch with volunteers who will do your shopping for you, free.

Comment was by Mrs.B on January 21, 2021 at 4:11pm

I guess I'll soon find out. Pension day is the 27th.

Some private people have offered shopping services for seniors, but they charge $30, & there's no way I can afford that a couple of times a month on pension. $30 can buy a lot of fruit, veg, & tea/coffee!

Comment was by Stephen Brodie on January 21, 2021 at 4:07pm

Its usually about £3.00 but free when you buy £35.00 worth of shopping. I can't imagine it being much different in WL.

Online shopping has begun here, & I will be trying it out on pension day. Delivery charges are based on time of day & orders have to be a minimum of $40.00, so I'll not know the delivery cost until I place an order.

Mrs.B I know there's a big distance between London and Williams Lake but I'm surprised that your government hasn't forced or as in the UK bribed the supermarkets too enlarge its capacity to provide online shopping. Since the first lockdown where the stores struggled to keep up with the demand for more online shopping, the government has bribed them to increase their capacity by buying more vans and taking on more staff.

All the best, Joan.

Every time I've gone for fresh food, masks & distance are very much in place. But....I'm now looking into the online grocery shopping, which my supermarket has finally activated here. The virus getting into the hospital & 4 schools is a worry, so I don't want to go out for even the fresh food now. Our vaccines won't be here for months yet, & now there's a delay in shipments from Europe.

Happy birthday Joan. I'm sure your family are celebrating you in a responsible and loving way.

Comment was by Ian Mason on January 21, 2021 at 2:32pm

Containment seems to be the vital issue, Mrs B. I hope peole are sensible about staying in their bubbles, wearing masks etc. Like a fire, it can only burn if there's fuel. Starve the virus of new contacts and it will fade away.I hope you and yours can stay safe.

DK may be facing increased restrictions even though the 'positive' rate is falling. The authorities are worried about the new 'British' 117 mutation that's done such damage in the UK and Eire. Plus, some selfish toe rag has taken the South African mutation home from a luxury holiday in Dubai.
