Who can get through a day of the 2016 presidential campaign and not think of this? Here's part of how my mom did it in the late 1930s and the 1940s. I didn't know what she had in mind when she raised us as if there was no such thing as boys' work or…Continue

Nice Comment
Of course, that's the way it was during the second full lockdown. I only use my local in the summer and then only outside service. Hundreds of pubs have gone bust and closed. Our pubs are more than just bars, they have a real social function. My local has been on the spot for over two hundred years and has a lovely garden. How it works in the tier system, tier two in London you can't go to the bar to get your drink its table service only and social distancing is strictly enforced and you have to give your name and address and the NHS app number and you must self isolate if the app says you have been close to someone with symptoms.
Well I think proper rules that apply to all is very lacking. Food or not, I don't think pubs/restaurants should be open for anything but take away. If people want a drink, they can do that at home.
Mrs.B in England the pubs that have been allowed to open have been told they can only do so if they serve food"a substantial meal" have been getting around the rules by saying that a scotch egg is a meal. Mind you it's hardly their fault, the rules are so opaque nobody understands them.
Our health officer is telling people to stop looking for loopholes, or work-arounds. It doesn't appear to be working.
Yes, Stephen. Closing at 6pm too. It sounds as if things have been rushed through.
There's a bar in England that's trying to register as a place of worship to escape regulations and some people are supporting it! Why don't people understand? It's fine if you want to take a risk but you musn't be a danger to others! With freedom comes responsibility.
The big whiners here are churchites, & party-ers.
Ian the devolved government of Wales have on the whole been much stricter than the other nations of the UK but after the circuit breaker they made a laughing stock of themselves when they allowed pubs to reopen but they mustn't sell alcohol.
Randall cracked ribs can be really painful especially when you take a deep breath. Look after yourself and get well soon.
Yes, Ian, waaaaay too risky. Best to stay home now, so we'll have a life later.
Get well soon, Randall. Avoid jokes so you don't laugh too much.
The net informs me that Wales had two weeks of a 'circuit breaker' strict lockdown but as soon as they opened up again, the problem came back so now it's back to severe measures again. It's the only way until the bulk of the population is vaccinated. Here in DK the infection rates are creeping up in someparts of the country. They've started to fall again where I live, mostly because local clubs, societies, sports teams etc. cancelled all activities. Very sensible.
I won't be travelling for the holidays so I won't be seeing my daughter and my grandsons. Sad, but I think it's for the best. To get there means a long journey with several forms of public transport in the holiday season which I think is too great a risk.
