How are you all managing under Covid threat?

Comment was by Chris B on October 30, 2020 at 2:12am

Still no full lockdown here, Joan. Regular health care is at a quarter of its capacity, waiting lists are lenghtening rapidly. The government follows advice from contagion experts, but the rules have changed a few times, due to incomplete info. That gives room for people who like complot theories - very unpleasant. Luca and I keep to our own plan; we avoid almost all people, do our daily walk and shopping and occupy ourselves at home. We are each other's support system, using every small positive thing to make ourselves feel happy. I hear that many relations fall apart in Covid times, but we grow even closer together.

Chris B, Wonderful cartoon of a wolf and some sheep. Right on!
I know listening to the talk that the depressed person imposes on one, and it is a valuable part of recovery. I hope you have a support system that you can rely on to express your feelings.

Chris B, I follow the virus numbers for The Netherlands and I am sure the citizens are ready for a full lockdown by now. What has been the national policy to counteract the contagion?

We watched PBS last night too, Randy. Sounds positive for hopefully removing some carbon, as long as it goes global, & we smarten up.

Sick and tired of watching the same old CNN and MSNBC "news", I watched 3 hours of nature shows on PBS last night. One was about the wildfires of Australia and their effects on wildlife. Another was about the various new methods of extracting CO2 out of the atmosphere to hopefully combat global warming. The last show was about how reforestation of planet earth might, in the end, be our savior (not J.C.!). All very interesting and entertaining. Thank you PBS!

I wear a mask everywhere, & we have no cases at the moment, & only 2 cases known of since the beginning of this, which were isolated right away.....over a month ago. I'm not taking any chances.

Besides....with the colder weather starting, it helps keep the face warm.

Good to be careful! A week ago we had 700 or 800 new cases a day, and then the numbers went up...

And very good to talk about anxiety/depression! My partner does much better in that area since coming out, but she still needs to talk about it.

Thank you Joan. Yes, life can be filled by many things, the 'human' being the most important. They're a bit limited at the moment; I miss being able to visit my family in England but I do have a few people close to me in everyday life.

Chris, that sounds frightful. Denmark has just beaten its own record with 859 new cases in one day. New restrictions start on Wednesday but not a complete lockdown. I've started wearing a mask everywhere, even before it's compulsory.

I had a new bass guitar lesson yesterday: a professional teacher who knows how to teach and is flexible. Also, in my own home which saves on travel etc. I've also started in a small self-help group for those with depression/anxiety and that seems very promising. There were some 'you too!?' moments which relieves the feeling of struggling alone with emotional problems.

I'm stealing the drawing, Chris. It's very sharp and to the point.

About right.
