We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

FINAL DAY TO DECIDE--what is going to be End of Times cocktail? vote now!

HILARIOUS THREAD going, started by Sydni (who is Queen of Most Awesome Thread and Groups, imo)

here====>

http://atheistuniverse.net/group/coffeebreak/forum/topics/lets-part...

The thread is about our END OF TIMES/RAPTURE PARTY

(apparently) scheduled to occur on SATURDAY MAY 21ST AT 6PM EST.

(google world time zone maps)

LOG ON or we will think you've been raptured off.

Some of us think it would add to the fun,

IF

we all toast the Rapture/End of Times with same drink.

We only have ONE DAY LEFT to buy our ingredients.

PICK A COCKTAIL and reNAME IT appropriately,

and submit it here!!

or vote for cocktails already listed.

(see original thread on pages 1 and page 3, i'm just reposting this her thread to get it all clarified in time to buy ingredients for our LAST ever cocktail.)

Or some leader type step fwd, and just TELL US,

so we'll all know what cocktail to drink.

IT IS FUN TO ALL DO SAME THING TOGETHER, ALL OVER THE GLOBE!

i think it IS more fun, if we all drink same thing, to commemorate the rapture of all those theists,

 i do think so.

And maybe not everyone will enjoy drinking same drink all together, but, for those who DO think it'd be fun,

I agree with Deb Poarch's remark on other thread: //" HAHA!  And Jean, no need for mamby pamby wine.  I want something EXPLOSIVE!  Rich, exciting, high alcohol content.  It is the end of the world afterall.  Just think... no hangover!  HAHA!"//

Here is my suggestion for a cocktail that everyone could make and we all meet here on the 21st?  22nd?

to party together online as a group.

my (plagerized and renamed) idea of cocktail recipe is:

JUDGEMINT DAY COCKTAIL

Shake briefly with three-quarters of a glassful of crushed ice. Serve with a short straw in an old-fashioned glass.

Garnish with a mint sprig.

FOR NONVEGANS------------One can also leave out the crushed ice, and instead, blender in a cup of ice cream if they want to be truly decadent on their JudgeMINT day....

Flying Grasshopper Recipe

My (again, plagerized and renamed) idea for a cocktail we all make together and sip together on the 22nd is-----------

"RAPTURE  SUNRISE"

2 oz 1800® Tequila

Pour tequila in a highball glass with ice, and top with orange juice. Stir. Add grenadine by tilting glass and pouring grenadine down side by flipping the bottle vertically very quickly. The grenadine should go straight to the bottom and then rise up slowly through the drink. Garnish stirrer, straw and cherry and oranges.

Anyway, whatever everyone decides for our group drink on whichever day, i think it'd be more fun if we all make exact same drink all on same day!!!  Also, Sydni's idea that STRAWBERRIES are in season right now, is worth thinking about!!!

"HIGHWAY TO HELL"

or    "Rapture ICED TEA"

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1 ounce white rum
  • 1 ounce white tequila
  • 1/2 ounce Triple Sec
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup cola, or to taste
  • 2 lemon wedges

Directions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour the vodka, gin, rum, tequila, Triple Sec, and lemon juice into the shaker. Cover and shake vigorously to combine and chill. Pour the mixture, ice and all, into 2 glasses or beer mugs and top off with the cola. Garnish with lemon wedges. Serve

stronggggggggggggg.....reeeeeeally really stronggggg....RAPTURE ICED TEAS might make you think you DID rapture!!!

WOW!  A few sips and I'd by flying, (or crawling)...hahaha  Quite the combo here.  I have to pass on this one, but I'm saving this recipe!

in truth, that IS the famous "Long Island Iced Tea" recipe, you Long Islander, Sydni!! Sydni really is a Long Islander)  It TOTALLY shockingly, tastes JUST LIKE Iced Tea!!!

I only changed the name to make it an "End of Times" cocktail.

Berry Tempting: Strawberry and Prosecco Muddle--->renamed "RAPTURE MUDDLE"

This is a delicious cocktail with strawberries, homemade simple syrup, Prosecco, and lemon. If you don't have a muddler, you can easily use the handle of a wooden spoon. I made a big batch of simple syrup, so I can whip up cocktails quickly all month long. This refreshing mixed drink is perfect for sipping throughout the sizzling late Spring and early Summer.

Ingredients

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cups chopped hulled strawberries
6 thin lemon slices
Ice cubes
1 750-ml bottle chilled Prosecco

Directions

  1. Stir sugar and 1/2 cup water in heavy small saucepan over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves. Increase heat and bring to boil. Cool syrup.
  2. Divide strawberries among six 6- to 8-ounce glasses; add 1 tablespoon syrup to each and mash with muddler or handle of wooden spoon. Add lemon slice to each and mash to release flavor. Add several ice cubes to each glass, then fill with Prosecco.

Makes 6 drinks.

***Prosecco is an Italian white wine — generally a Dry or Extra Dry sparkling wine[1] — normally made from Glera ("Prosecco") grapes. DOC prosecco is produced in the regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto in Italy, and traditionally mainly in the areas near Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, in the hills north of Treviso.

How to Make a Mint Julep!--->renamed >

"ATHEIST DERBY"

The mint julep is the official libation of the Kentucky Derby. It's a delightful drink that's perfectly balanced: it's sweet, tart, and potent all at the same time.

Although it involves crushed ice, it's an easy cocktail to make at home.

Mint Julep Recipe (makes 1 serving)

4 fresh mint sprigs

2 1/2 oz bourbon

1 tsp powdered sugar

2 tsp water

Muddle mint leaves, powdered sugar, and water in a collins glass. Fill the glass with shaved or crushed ice and add bourbon. Top with more ice and garnish with a mint sprig. Serve with a straw.

Mint Juleps for a Crowd

Ingredients

4 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 ounce (1 bunch) mint leaves, plus another additional bunch, for serving
Kentucky bourbon, such as Maker's Mark
Crushed ice

Directions

  1. Stir sugar and water in a heavy medium saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer gently for 10 minutes. Place 1 ounce fresh mint leaves into large bowl; pour hot syrup over leaves. Let cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate overnight.
  2. Using a slotted spoon, remove mint leaves from syrup and discard mint. Pour mint syrup into large pitcher. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Set out pitcher of mint syrup, bourbon, and crushed ice. Arrange additional mint sprigs in a bud vase with water to keep them fresh. Allow guests to assemble their own cocktails, adjusting measurements to suit their own preferences. In general, fill glasses with crushed ice and add approximately 1/4 cup bourbon and 2 tablespoons mint syrup, then add as many mint leaves as desired and stir to combine. Garnish with a sprig of mint and enjoy.

Serves 12.

Honestly, Pina Coladas are my favorite summertime drink.  This is an easy recipe if you gather the right stuff and have it on hand.

The World’s Best Pina Colada--> renamed

"END OF TIMES COLADA"

While this drink is most famous for being made as a blended beverage similar to a smoothie or slushie, it can also be made on the rocks.  The most common way to make a frozen piña colada recipe is with four simple ingredients: rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and ice. To be clear, cream of coconut is different from coconut milk, and coconut milk cannot be used to replace the cream of coconut in this recipe.

* 2 ½ to 3 ounces of rum

* 2 ounces Cream of Coconut

* 2 ounces Pineapple Juice

* Ice to fill the glass

Pour all of the ingredients into the blender and blend thoroughly until smooth. Pour back into your serving glass, top off with a straw and a piece of pineapple, cherry and paper umbrella!

**You can use any type of rum you prefer, but the most commonly used is plain white rum (sometimes also called silver rum).

For a top shelf Pina Colada recipe, you can freeze pineapple chunks and then use them in place of the pineapple juice and ice. This will give you an even sweeter drink, since the flavor of the coconut and pineapple won’t be diluted by the ice. Traditionally, the drink would be strained into a glass after blending—pina colada literally means “pineapple strained”, after all!
