We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

I'm not a vegetarian.  But as years go by, I eat less and less of red meat; and this is not exactly out of concern for the cows but because red meat doesn't appeal to me anymore. I prefer chicken though I eat less and less of it.  So my diet  is mainly vegetables and salads, fish, pasta and tofu which can be served in a lot different ways.

I would think this is due to the aging process, whilst looking at these young men gorging on double hamburgers or steaks.

I started trying to eat nuts everyday. It's easy enough to put them in a salad.

I also love only beans and nuts salads; the dressing is everything, sweet-sour...

I know that this goes against the social popularity of eating meat, but if you want to feel better, eliminate as much of it as you can. Especially as I get older, I have been able to tell almost immediately when my diet is off. I have been 99% vegetarian for many years. Some of those years, especially when I first started to change, I would go back to eating meat for a while. After a few weeks it would aggravate medical problems that my family gets. Back to vegetarian would almost immediately reverse those problems. Diabetes runs in the family, high blood pressure, high cholesterol; all go away. Even the prostrate gland that enlarges in most males as they age retreated.

When I first started moving away from meat, I would only eat it when someone else served it, I would never make it for myself. Even just lessening the animal fats and proteins by doing that felt good on the body.

Young men gorge on double cheeseburgers because they've never read a book on nutrition. At one time I think you could eat meat at every meal, and if you lived a very active lifestyle, live for a long time. I think factory farming and processing has destroyed that source. Of course, double cheeseburgers are cheap as hell, fits a young man's wallet. =)
