Our Government in the UK are doing the opposite they are allowing more faith schools to open.
Good for Alberta.
My small city has several faith based schools, which seems odd for the size of this place, but we seldom hear anything about them.
The most we ever heard about were the catholic residential schools for the aboriginal kids who were taken away from their families, & they are long gone.
If the churches want to open schools that's their business, but why should the state pay for them.
The Tory government has always supported the idea that the Church of England should run schools, but they've got themselves into a bind because the anti discrimination laws say what's good for one religion is good for all. Which means if you allow one religious group, say the Christians you have to let the Muslims and the Jews and even the scientologists and other whacky sects. All state aided. They are too cowardly to drew back from this concept.
