The uprising of women in the Arab world

"TOGETHER FOR FEARLESS, FREE & INDEPENDENT WOMEN IN THE ARAB WORLD"

"time for women and men to unite against the oppression of women in the arab world. To say no to violence against women, no to their allegiance to men, no to repression and abuse, no to their treatment as second class citizens.

We demand the full application of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for arab women just as for men. This chart comes before any State, any culture, any tradition, any mentality.

Let's spread the word and create a strong solidarity network, share our views, denounce the absurd laws of our respective countries, and share updates about the progress and changes that we are working on.

TOGETHER FOR FEARLESS, FREE, INDEPENDENT WOMEN IN THE ARAB WORLD !"

I agree Suzanne. The middle east in no way can mimic Canada, the society is so anti-woman that there will probably be fatalities before they change. I don't remember men throwing acid on young women who tried to get an education in Canada, just not the same.

This is great! So encouraging to see that Facebook page. I suggest you visit it and Like it, and comment for solidarity. I like that there are a lot of men posing with the declaration on the page. Great photos!

Hi Ali - tried the link, and it didn't work for me. I don't know if it can't come to my part of the world, or the newspaper has deleted it. Can you still get the link?

hey suzanne,
the link is working fine with me.

Suzanne, the link you posted above points to an image and effectively leads to nowhere.
Try this:

Thank you Michel - this one  worked.

Legislative Indices of the Position of Women within Arab Societies in 1984
Things haven't changed much since, except for Iraq and South Yemen (which no longer exists)

women in tunisia have the right to abortion ...

Yes, Tunisia is great in many respects for women. Let us hope (and fight) so that it stays this way. Where is Lebanon on that list?

Lebanon is worst. In Lebanon women can do therapeutic abortion (The signature of two doctors is required).  but Christians are making a lot of campaigns against therapeutic abortion.  they call it "a crime, evil..." .

So many christians, so few hungry lions...

First wall bearing the logo of the campaign. Written "uprising of women in the Arab world" with a graphic drawing of the Arab world  and a woman's face.
take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Interesting, huh?
