We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

In a recent poll Perry edged out Obama in a head to head race. Is America really this stupid? Could Perry be our next president? This guy is a total teabag evangelical wingnut. And right now, he is looking like the Republicans' first choice.

Is this the beginning of the end of reason?

Our only hope is that at one time President Tricky Trump was in the lead, if Obama does lose I hope it is to a RINO like Romney.

Would be incredible if someone as far to the right as Perry is were to win. Don't see it happening.

I hope you are right. He wants to do away with Social Security for one thing. Americans generally don't agree with that. I hope when people learn about what he stands for that they will run screaming from the room.

After 2 years of conservative governors screwing their states and with all the tea party congressmen, would be hard to believe that a Perry could win. Of course, americans are easily conned lately.

It's impossible that he's for real. Therefore some butthole picture or an equivalent delicacy will eventually surface.

well we had 8 years of bush. scary

The idea that America can even consider someone like Perry after 8 yrs of Bush is just mind boggling.

Thanks for keeping it light, Alayna!

I think early polls like this, before there even is a Republican winner from the primaries, are pretty meaningless. Or at least, I tell myself this so I can sleep at night :-( The last thing America needs is Bush on roids. I agree with Neal, it's hard to believe American could vote Perry into the Presidency but stupidity and ignorance seem to be rampant these days.

its scary, but it seems that that these fundys have realized that a lie repeated over and over, becomes true to a number of people, like the lie that Kerry was not a war hero, or the lie that national health care is unamerican and will destroy us. thing is these christian NUTS can raise a lot of money, prolly from china and saudi, and then they can spread there lies in the media over  and over, until a nimber of people believe them
