Bank of North Dakota's 100-year anniversary celebration a big success

The Bismarck Tribune reports that the Bank of North Dakota’s 100-Year Anniversary celebration on Monday was a grand success. The Tribunequoted Gov. Doug Burgum, who noted the curiosity and a “tinge of jealousy” from other states:

“They see the agility we have and the ability that we have to do many things in North Dakota that they can’t.”

Watch the livestream videos (Facebook link) to learn all about the Nonpartisan League’s remarkable success in 1919 — including the vital importance of the League’s women’s clubs — as well as BND’s role in the community today. Speakers include Gov. Doug Burgum and other elected officials, as well as guest speakers who bring to life the BND’s rich history with vivid tales heard from their families. One was told by former Agricultural Commissioner Sarah Vogel:

“In Minnesota they tarred and feathered North Dakota organizers to drive them out of town. A.C. Townley was jailed for 6 months on the accusation of sedition. … Federal Judge Amadon said, ‘The day in the United States when people who try to change the system can be arrested and jailed for trying to improve it, it’s just not American.’ … It was a major miracle that they took control.

Latest podcast: How to make a democratic economy

In the latest It’s Our Money podcast, PBI Chair Ellen Brown and Walt McRee talk with The Democracy Collaborative’s Ted Howard and Bank of North Dakota historian Mike Jacobs. Walt introduces the episode:

Making a Democratic Economy

The remarkable financial successes of the American economy have been bestowed mostly on a small percentage of our populace while a growing proportion of citizens faces increasing financial hardships. That’s because our economy is controlled by powerful special interests. After 40 years of this trend, it’s clear we need to democratize the power that shapes our economy. Illustrating that case, The Democracy Collaborative’s Ted Howard discusses their new book The Making of a Democratic Economy, while guest commentator Mike Jacobs, historian for the Bank of North Dakota’s centennial celebration, provides a look back at how the citizens of North Dakota, faced with similar conditions, succeeded in turning their economy around 100 years ago in a deeply conservative state.

Sorry for the sticky keyboard.  regarting the title

"Public bankinng"

If someone chooses to pick on me for that then they (he, or she)  don't know how language works.

Public Banking should have been the obvious titile.

Don't get that visit a prison in Frencnh Guiana, or Jonestown and grammar nazis.

My hearing is terrible which translats to speach and writing therfore some sounds are difficult for me to hear such as "T"  "D"  "P" and others, unfortunately that also translates to the keyboard.

I know many people have difficulties.

Please be kind to yourself and others.

? Are people who were raised in a strict religious community culture, or family able to get over the hurdle?

If so I don't see it. The baggage is always dragged along.
