A Holiday Message from Ricky Gervais:

Why I'm a good Christian.

"Last Christmas I wrote a little essay entitled: "A Holiday Message from Ricky Gervais: Why I'm an atheist." The Wall Street Journal ran it, and it caused quite a stir. I was even asked to answer some of the comments. So for Easter I thought I'd do another one. Here it is."

GOTTA LOVE RICKY!!!  aw geez, i have to restart my computer between each video i watch...brb...

WOW, that is a GREAT article, wow, i am a good christian too!! who knew?

i've never read anything like this, new idea to me!! rofl!!

I know!  Me too!   Who knew?

I saw Ricky on John Stewart last night.  There was a part II discussion on the web in which I discovered he's an atheist.  You've got to see it.  Then I went to Ricky's web page and saw his easter card (love it) and also read his Christmas piece in the NYT.  I vote for Ricky to be the official Atheist spokesperson!

If I was gay I'd fall in love with this guy.
Me too!

Off topic, but, that title will draw others over here to think about Easter, so i just want to point out,

The christians took over all the pagan and secular holidays, and put their on top, keeping most of the customs, claiming those customs as "christian" customs, etc etc.

BUT

Easter is unique, in that the christians did not even bother to change the NAME of the ongoing holiday.  ALL THE OTHER HOLIDAZE,

christians slowly sneaked a whole new name to the ongoing pagan parties that they could not stop, but, for Easter, they just left the name of the other god!

Easter is an ancient spring fertility goddess, who came to earth in an egg, and rode on bunnies.  I'm guessing these were either very very large bunnies, or Easter was very tiny deity, not sure.

but, that's where you get your christian eggs and bunnies thing.

Also, we owe the word "estrogen" to our fertility goddess, Easter, too====> and my guess is that is how the whole "chocolate" thing got thrown in there, too!!  ha ha!!!

this always makes me smile when i see Easter cards, and church marquees, that read,

"What is the true meaning of Easter?"

i always smile...and want to say, "i know that one!! i know!!" rofl!!

Thanks, that was a good Ricky post = i liked his Ten Commandment comments.
Thanks Jean.  I knew christians hijacked Pegan celebrations but I didn't know the details.  Mind if I paste on fb?

Even better, Deb, you can post whole entire thread, scroll up to top of this page, and at the bottom of your most awesome post, you will see a little 'facebook' icon, CLICK ON THAT, and then, this whole thread gets linked to your page, out to all your friend's pages on fb, too, on facebook.

When you do that, you will have room to post a comment above the link.

YOu can look at my fb page, to see how it came out on my page, everyone is loving it.

YOu also get to pick which photo accompanies the article.  Usually, there are about 8 or 9 photos, that will acompany this link,

to click through to pick one,

some  photos, i have no idea why they show up !! haha!

you will see what i mean, if you click on the fb icon under your article above.  Let me know if you have trouble.

so then, they can see both the reason they are all great christians in Ricky Gervais' brilliant article, and also see the history of why they are buying eggs + candy chicks,  and toy bunnies this week..

I think everyone should consider facebooking threads from AU, it helps other atheists discover this site, and what nicer way to say "HAPPY EASTER!"

You're such a character Jean.  I will try this.

i must confess, part of my doing that picture, was,

to show off,

that *i* finally conquered, (after only about 10 lessons) how to take a 'screen shot"

rofl!!!
