We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.

Besides being a brilliant comedian and practiced public ranter, George Carlin was a adept student of humans and humanity – likely among the reasons why he was so accomplished at those first two vocations.  In this interview with Charlie Rose, Carlin manages to sum up what we ARE doing, what we SHOULD BE doing, and why what we're doing is bringing Homo sapiens down in a few ticks over two minutes, AND states how a society should work in two simple sentences.

You think I'm kidding?  Give a listen.

Sure wish he'd been cloned a few hundred thousand times!

Excellent summary of what ought to be the first concern of any society:

"Is everybody okay? Let's get something to eat."

If George is right about how we men compensate for our sexual inadequacy by creating bigger and bigger weaponry or rockets, I'm afraid I would need a very big rocket indeed. Hahaha

Carlin neglects to mention one driving force behind humans' relative lack of concern for one another: The Bible.

A whopping 93% of people on Earth believe that an afterlife of eternal bliss awaits them in "the next world".

And all that they have to do to enjoy this eternal paradise is to worship an imaginary genocidal god who drowned the entire human race (save a drunk boat-builder and a few of his close companions).

Whew.

Little wonder we live in a world where most people are looking out for themselves.

Terrifying!
