This video of beautiful Iceland, its trails into mountains, views of volcanic activity, the source of thermal power for the island, excellent views of geologic structures and especially of dikes*, and breathtaking scenes from the top of abandoned Hengill Trail.
*"A dike or dyke, in geological usage, is a sheet of rock formed in a fracture of a pre-existing rock body."
It looks like a human-built rock wall following valleys through streams, climbing mountains, and stretching for miles. We witness the forming of a dike in the 2021 volcanic activity in Iceland today.

Very informative, & great to use all that heat for the towns. Nice hike, but definitely not my thing to do.
Cute pup.
I have not been a hiker, even when I could have been. A chair, table, and a book are more to my liking.
Me too, although it was not laziness because I used to walk all over London.
I used to walk everywhere in town too with my foldable shopping cart almost daily, but to go out to hike as such....no thank you. Music, reading, kitties, are much more my speed.
Hiking in Iceland is on my bucket list, but, alas, at age 78, I'm afraid I'll either run out of steam or time! Did anyone see the story on 60 Minutes (May 23) about the volcano there? Spectacular!
