We are a worldwide social network of freethinkers, atheists, agnostics and secular humanists.
As an athéist, once you are dead, where and how do you want your body to go ?
Many of us came from religious family who own a lot in a cimetery or in a mausoleum.
Youre directives are likely to create confusion near your close relations who are religious?
Would you prepare your last wishes?
Also here in Quebec the alternatives are getting thinner.
The government is about to pass a law to prohibit the dispertion of ashes, the guard in residence of those ashes.

After all my organs are used up/donated (i'm an organ donor)
i want my body donated to science. the science org will cremate me free. The science org will dispose of my ashes, or, upon my request, offer my ashes back to my family after 18 to 24 months. I have told my family, they are free to tell science org to dispose of them,
~ or ~
if they so prefer, they can accept ashes back, and sprinkle them somewhere in nature. (If you don't ask if that is legal, no one knows/cares) they can then use that spot, as "my grave".
My only stipulation is, i do not want my dead ashy butt on someone's mantle in a jar, that is too creepy.
Prior to being donated to science org----I do not want my dead body dragged through any churches, nor funeral homes. I want zero formal funeral, but a party is okay.
I do not want some precious piece of earth wasted on storing my dead body. (for what?)
besides having taken MOST IMPORTANT STEP OF ALL = informing my family those are my wishes----
I have a legal living will.
More importantly, i have a medical power of attorney, who WILL see to it my wishes are met.
i have thought about this.
All the members of my family who were religious are dead, so i don't need to worry about stressing them. My husband and kids are atheists. They would not find an atheist funeral, or even a lack of funeral, weird.
I'm an organ donor too, but if i inherited my family's longevity on my mom's side, my organ would be very second hand :-)
I would prefer to be cremated rather than buried, I prefer if my family remembers me alive, not visiting some tomb. I love the ocean, wouldn't mind my ashes spread at the shores of the Atlantic, where i have had, and continue to have, so much fun.
Have not decided yet about all this there is no science org, medical attorney etc in country where I m living If I live for 10 to 15 years then same things are possible for me(depending on the speedy expansion of information technology). But if I died today I would like to have same muslim kind of burial and funeral ceremony.
Sorry If someone got hurt by these thought.
any short question about this thinking of mine will be welcomed.
Finally, I believe that all choices are good as long as we do not let our loved ones in doubt, and we specify what we want. The contaire could create difficult dilemmas adjustable morally.
