Smashing doesn't quite describe it although that will probably come later. It was filled with laughter - we welcomed 2 9-week old kittens into our home. Easy, almost non-stop entertainment. Even watching them napping made us smile.
Thanks for the welcome, Stephen. I've been grabbing pictures from Atheist Universe and posting them on my local North Bay Skeptics Facebook page, and decided it'd be fun to join your group and post the occasional comment or whatever.
After over 150 years it's about time the "Bars and Stars" is being removed from state houses and other government property in the Confederate States from the civil war of the U.S.
I wonder why racism against American's of African ancestory are discriminated against more than "colored" people are in the U.K. and Europe. The U.K. abolished slavery about 50 years before the U.S. It seems to me that Brittan and the Continentals (France and Germany for example) don't have the same kind of discrimination toward people with African discent as there is in the U.S.
I see a lot of discrimination towards people from Islamic countrie in the U.K. and the Continentals. Maybe it's because of mass imigration caused because of displacement from terrible wars and climate change in the affected areas.
Hi Stephen. We have come a loong way just over the last few decades in 'being heard. There were times when I'd have 4 or 5 people's letters published blasting my one. With the help of others who came out of the woodwork, we were able to strongly defend our position. One idiot tried to have my life membership in the Elks terminated because I ' didn't have a personal savior.' He was told " we're not going to get into that." Gavel - any other new business ?business ? Never heard from him again. I have 4 albums, page size, ot letters by us & againt us. Have a friend who had collected over 1,000 of his own letters to the editor in papers 150 miles east of us Clearfield & Altoona region atheists. I smile as I write this.:-)
Hi Stephen. I was born & raised in Pittsburgh, Pa. Lived in Pa. all of my life except during the war. Moved to Portland about7 months ago. Living out my days with my youngest daughter & her family. Portland is the most beautiful city I have ever seen. There are trees EVERYWHERE. My daughter is a stewardess for Horizon airlines. She has flights to Vancouver regularly. I had 'hookups with many atheists in Pa. Made friends through letters to the editorv in various newspapers. Together, we managed to remove highway accident crosses & other displays of belief from 1,000s of miles of highways in central Pa. We joined with other atheists in York, Pa. We chose the name PAN. ( Pa.Non Believers.) It is GREAT attending meetings of atheists. And the social meetings afterwards. We defended each other in thousands of letters to the editor of many different newspapers. It has been FUN ! All the way.
Hi. Many thanks. It's always nice to find yourself among freethinking friends. It's even more fun to be one of a large group of fellow atheists. At 89, I dion't get around much anymore. The web is the next best thing.
